Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode has defended women who genuinely desire marriage, saying wanting to become a wife does not mean a woman is desperate, has lost herself or lacks purpose.
In a post on Instagram, Olayode said women who do not want marriage or are happily single should be allowed to make their own choices, but those who desire marriage should equally be allowed to express that desire without being shamed.
She said not every woman who wants a husband is desperate and that being excited about becoming a wife does not make a woman less ambitious or mean she has nothing else going on in her life.
According to her, while marriage can be difficult and some marriages end painfully, some people simply believe marriage is beautiful and want to experience it.
Olayode also recalled giving her unsolicited opinion at a salon after hearing some women shame another woman for wanting to get married. She said she later came across a “BRIDE” swimsuit her friend gifted her in 2024, which made her laugh because of the timing.
The actress added that people can choose not to marry or decide that marriage is not for them, but should allow those who desire it to pursue it in peace.
She further said some women want different aspects of life, including faith, purpose, career, impact, money, friendship, family and a beautiful marriage.
Olayode concluded by wishing everyone who desires marriage a good partner and a marriage worth the desire, adding, “Up Love! Up Marriage!”
