Five men have been arrested near RAF Fairford in the UK on suspicion of terror and explosives offenses.
The arrests took place early Sunday in the nearby village of Whelford following a tip-off from a resident who noticed three suspicious vans. Army bomb disposal units were dispatched to the scene, and approximately 85 local households were evacuated as a precaution while specialist teams inspected the vehicles.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the men were initially detained under the Explosives Act before being further arrested on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act. Counter-terrorism laws allow authorities to hold the suspects for up to 14 days without charge.
US President Donald Trump praised the law enforcement operation, stating that US and UK authorities had been monitoring the suspects for some time. Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham acknowledged the concern raised by the incident and thanked emergency services for their rapid response.
The US Embassy in London has advised American citizens in the UK to exercise caution and maintain awareness of their personal security. Investigation into the motives and background of the suspects remains ongoing.
