The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Sada Tambai, for allegedly k!lling his 80-year-old father in Bindawa Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson for the command, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
The incident occurred on September 21, 2026, when the Bindawa Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call from the District Head of Bindawa, Dan Yusufan Katsina, reporting that the elderly man, Adamu Tambai, who was a former Ward Head of Mundadu Village, had been found lying motionless in front of his residence.
The police said detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where the victim was evacuated and rushed to the nearest hospital for medical attention, where he was pronounced d3ad by a doctor upon arrival.
According to the command, preliminary investigations led to the arrest of the deceased’s son, who allegedly confessed during interrogation to hitting his father on the head with a stick. (Pictured)
“The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Sada Tambai, in connection with the culpable homicide of his 80-year-old father, Adamu Tambai,” the statement read.
“On September 21, 2026, at about 12:00 PM, a distress call was received at the Bindawa Division from the District Head of Bindawa (Dan Yusufan Katsina), reporting that Adamu Tambai, an 80-year-old former Ward Head of Mundadu Village, was found lying motionless in front of his residence in Mundadu Village, Bindawa LGA.
“Upon receipt of the report, detectives were swiftly dispatched to the scene. The victim was evacuated and rushed to the nearest hospital for immediate medical attention, where he was unfortunately confirmed dead by the attending medical doctor.
“Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the deceased’s son, Sada Tambai (27). During interrogation, the suspect confessed to hitting his father on the head with a stick, resulting in his fatal injuries.
“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Ali Umar Fage, psc (+), mnips, has directed the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a discreet and thorough investigation. The suspect will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
“The Command extends its deep condolences to the bereaved family and reassures the public of its unwavering commitment to ensuring that justice is fully served.”
