Super Falcons defender Osinachi Ohale retires from International football after 16 years

Super Falcons defender Osinachi Ohale has announced her retirement from international football after 16 years of representing Nigeria.

The 35-year-old C.F. Pachuca Femenil defender announced her decision in a statement shared on Instagram, describing it as a difficult decision after a long career with the national team.

“After 16 years of wearing the Nigerian jersey, representing my country, and giving everything I had to the beautiful game, I have made the very difficult decision to retire from international football,” she said.

The defender will now concentrate on her club career after retiring from international football.

Ohale made her senior debut for Nigeria in 2010 and went on to earn 86 caps for the Super Falcons.

She represented Nigeria at four FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments and seven Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) editions.

Ohale was also part of the Super Falcons teams that won five WAFCON titles in 2010, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2024.
