The Delta State Police Command has intercepted a vehicle conveying illicit drugs and military accoutrement in the state.
Isaac Urji 45, the driver of the vehicle, was arrested in connection with the intercepted items.
The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said the vehicle and the suspect were intercepted on September 18, 2026, by the operatives of the Command Anti-Cult Unit (CACU), Asaba, acting on credible intelligence.
He said the operatives received intelligence that a Sienna vehicle conveying suspected illicit drugs and military accoutrement was travelling from Onitsha heading towards Ondo State with the illegal items.
He said the operatives mounted surveillance along the anticipated route and intercepted a green Toyota Sienna with registration number KP 527 AAA, driven by the suspect.
Edafe said police operatives searched the vehicle and discovered cartons of suspected Tramadol and other suspected illicit drugs, military camouflage uniforms, boots and hats.
He said the suspect was arrested, while investigation had commenced to trace the source and intended destination of the recovered items and identify other persons connected with the consignment.
The suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed, Edafe added.
