“I feel like Uber and Bolt should be banned in Nigeria” — Airport taxi driver

?I feel like Uber and Bolt should be banned in Nigeria? ? Airport taxi driver

An airport taxi driver has sparked reactions after calling for ride-hailing platforms Uber and Bolt to be banned in Nigeria.

Speaking in a video, the driver, who said he previously worked for Bolt but now works with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Taxi, argued that ride-hailing fares are unfair to drivers.

According to him, the prices offered by Uber and Bolt often do not reflect the rising cost of fuel and other expenses.

He gave an example of a ₦6,000 trip from the airport, claiming that after fuel costs and deductions from the ride-hailing companies, very little is left for the driver.

“I feel like the ban of Bolt and Uber at the airport is long overdue. I think they should be banned in Nigeria,” he said.

The driver also praised the FAAN Taxi system, saying its plans for drivers are better structured.

He explained that airport taxi drivers typically pick up passengers from the airport without immediately taking another passenger on their return journey.

He further claimed that the FAAN Taxi service has stricter requirements regarding the condition and age of vehicles compared to ride-hailing platforms.
