Charles Inojie questions employability of Nigerian graduates

Nigerian actor Charles Inojie has criticised the quality of education among some Nigerian university graduates, arguing that a significant number lack sufficient knowledge and skills despite obtaining degrees.

Inojie recounted an interaction with a woman on a film set who told him she had studied Linguistics. According to him, he was surprised by her limited familiarity with some of the scholars and concepts associated with the discipline.

He said the experience reinforced his concerns about the employability of Nigerian graduates, while noting that the criticism does not apply to everyone.

The actor said …

“I was having a discussion with someone on set, she now said she studied Linguistics. She was so surprised and couldn’t believe it when I said ‘Oh, all these Noam Chomsky Children’. She was lost when we started discussing her course of study(Linguistics), meanwhile it’s an elective course for me. She was lost. I was really disappointed in her and that thing dey worry me.

“I’ve heard people say that a good number of our graduates today are not employable. That statement no too far from the truth o. That is why many of them are not willing to work.”
