Popular Islamic cleric, Sheik Gumi, has backed the mass weddings carried out by some Northern state governors.

 

In a post shared on Facebook, Gumi said in a Shariah state where prostitution, fornication, adultery, and promiscuity are prohibited, using public funds to facilitate the marriage of women who are in excess is a legitimate and responsible component of good governance.
