The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, identified as Solomon Onaola, over alleged defilement of a 15-year-old girl in Omifon, Odigbo Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, August 12.
He said the case was initially reported at the Odigbo Divisional Police Station before being transferred to the Gender-Based Offences Unit for further investigation due to the sensitive nature of the allegation.
According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the victim’s guardian reported the incident to the police on August 2, 2026.
The teenage girl, who worked as a domestic help in a household, had reportedly left home without permission on several occasions.
When questioned about her movements, the girl allegedly disclosed that Onaola had been taking her to his late mother’s residence in Omifon, where he allegedly had unlawful s£xual intercourse with her.
“Following the report, police operatives commenced investigation and subsequently arrested the suspect,” the statement said.
The Command added that the victim has been placed under appropriate care while necessary procedures are being followed in line with established protocols for handling cases involving alleged sexual offences against minors.
The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Felix Ohagwu, has directed the Gender-Based Offences Unit to carry out a thorough and professional investigation to establish the facts surrounding the case and ensure that justice is served.
The commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting children and other vulnerable members of society from s£xual exploitation, abuse and other forms of violence.
The Command also urged parents, guardians and members of the public to remain vigilant and pay close attention to the welfare and activities of children under their care.
