Real Madrid have confirmed the appointment of Jos Mourinho for a second spell as the club’s coach after the departure of lvaro Arbeloa. The Spanish club confirmed in a statement Thursday that Mourinho has signed a three-year contract at the Bernabu. Mourinho, 63, returns to the Spanish club after a season in charge of Benfica, who confirmed Wednesday that Madrid were willing to pay the 15 million compensation to release him from his contract in Portugal.According to a statement published on Real Madrids official website, Mourinho will remain in charge of the team until June 30, 2029. The club also confirmed that the Portuguese tactician will officially begin his duties on July 13, when the teams pre-season preparations get underway ahead of the new campaign. A Real Madrid statement on Thursday evening read: “The Board of Directors of Real Madrid CF, meeting today Thursday, June 11, and chaired by Florentino Perez, has agreed to appoint Jose Mourinho as first team coach for the next three seasons, until June 30, 2029.” The Portuguese coach was last in charge of Madrid between 2010 and 2013, winning one LaLiga title, a Copa del Rey and a Supercopa de Espaa.
