Three people have been st@bbed by a knifeman, reportedly shouting ‘ Allahu Akbar’ at a Swiss train station.
The Zurich cantonal police confirmed the attack at the Winterthur train station on Thursday, May 28, saying that the man, a 31-year-old Swiss national, was arrested at the scene after he wounded three people with a bladed weapon.
One person was seriously injured, and two others sustained moderate injuries and were hospitalised, Blick reports. The injured are all Swiss citizens aged 28, 43, and 52.
The motive for the attack is currently unclear, and the police are investigating all possible leads.
However, multiple witnesses claimed that the knifeman shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ as he unleashed his violent rampage, according to local media.
The incident is understood to have unfolded at around 8.30am, with footage from the scene showing terrified people fleeing in panic.

One passerby told news outlet Blick: ‘I heard a man behind me shout ‘Allahu Akbar’ five or six times in a very emotional and agitated manner.’
A group of school children are understood to have been passing through the station when the knife attack began, with their teacher seen standing in front of her students, 20 Minuten reported.
Emergency services – including ten to fifteen police cars – rushed to the scene, where a police cordon currently remains in place.
