The management of Gombe State University has commenced investigation following the discovery of a day-old baby boy at the institution’s female hostel.
The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Napthali Hadu, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said the institution had already commenced an investigation, assuring members of the public that the outcome would be made known in due course.
“I also heard about the unfortunate incident today at school. I will get back to you as soon as I gather more details,” he said.
He disclosed that efforts were ongoing to uncover the perpetrator and ensure appropriate punishment.
“Security agencies are doing everything within their powers to fish out the perpetrator,” Hadu added.
The baby has since been taken to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, for medical care.
Meanwhile, the university management has placed the female hostel under restriction as investigations continue.
