Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, has clarified the ongoing conversation surrounding activist Omoyele Sowore and businessman BLord, stating that Sowore’s actions were not about defending any individual.
In a viral live session circulating online, he explained that the main issue was the conduct of the Nigerian police, accusing them of allegedly taking sides in disputes involving influential personalities instead of remaining neutral.

“Sowore wasn’t fighting for BLord. He was fighting the Nigerian police to stop taking sides when two celebrities are fighting and using power to favour one person over the other. Sowore wasn’t fighting for BLord, he was fighting the Nigerian police,” he said.
Seun Kuti added that the situation goes beyond the individuals involved, stressing that such abuse of power can affect anyone and reflects a wider problem within the system.
He further noted that there is a broader struggle for fairness in the country and emphasised that he would not support any attempt to turn allies into enemies in the fight for justice.
It would be recalled that businessman BLord was arrested and detained following a case filed by social media critic VeryDarkMan.
BLord’s legal troubles began after he was accused of criminal conspiracy, impersonation, and unauthorised use of identity.
A Federal High Court in Abuja subsequently ordered his remand at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.
However, Sowore condemned the development, describing it as oppression rather than a victory for legal brilliance or advocacy, and later stepped in to facilitate his release.
