Victoria Beckham has reacted for the first time after her first son called her out.
The former Spice Girl addressed the matter for the first time during an interview with the Wall Street Journal published Thursday, April 16.
She said all she and her husband, David Beckham, have “ever tried to do” was “protect and love” their four children as she broke her silence on the family’s estrangement from son Brooklyn.
“I think that we’ve always – we love our children so much,” Victoria, 51, said when asked about Brooklyn, although she didn’t refer to her eldest by name.
“We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be.”
She continued, “And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.”
Rebecca and David, 50, welcomed 27-year-old Brooklyn in 1999. They also share sons Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 21, and daughter Harper, 14.
But Brooklyn reportedly began to distance himself from the Beckham clan after marrying his wife, 31-year-old actress and model Nicola Peltz, in 2022.
He went on to cut ties with his family completely in a scathing Instagram rant in January, where the aspiring chef and photographer declared he had “no choice” but to break his silence on the long-standing feud.
“I do not want to reconcile with my family,” Brooklyn wrote. “I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life. For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family.”
He continued, “Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade.”
After adding that “the truth always comes out” and accusing his parents of “trying endlessly to ruin [his] relationship” with Peltz before their 2022 wedding, Brooklyn launched a series of additional shocking accusations at his family.
Beyond claiming his famous parents engineered toxic media narratives and pressured him regarding name rights, Brooklyn alleged Victoria danced “inappropriately” on him after hijacking his and Peltz’s first dance as a married couple.
