Acting General Secretary of CAF, Samson Adamu, has confirmed that the body is still conducting internal investigations into allegations involving the President of the CAF Referees Committee, Oliver Safari.
Safari is alleged to have instructed the referee of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final to “preserve the match” by refraining from issuing yellow cards to Senegalese players.

Adamu stated that the process is ongoing and emphasized that no conclusions have been reached at this stage.
He noted that CAF will only take a decision after the investigation has been fully completed.

“Concerning the situation CAF is following the process entirely until it’s done until then CAF is only going to concentrate on making sure that we go through the process until the end and there is nothing whatsoever about taking a decision until the end.”

The development has sparked pressure in some quarters for Safari to be removed from his position.
Critics are arguing the alleged directive to Ndala was an attempt to influence officiating decisions during the final.
