Kunle Remi laments rising fuel prices, calls out colleagues backing Tinubu’s administration

Nollywood actor Kunle Remi has spoken candidly about Nigeria’s current fuel and energy crisis, expressing frustration over rising costs, inconsistent power supply, and what he calls the country’s lack of accountability.

Taking to his Instagram, the actor, known for his outspoken views, explained that he usually avoids discussing politics publicly but believes Nigerians must question leaders and hold them accountable for the state of the nation.

“I don’t even know how to begin this conversation… Usually I say things like, oh, I don’t get involved in politics, I don’t talk about politics.

But that’s the most stupid statement of anybody in Nigeria right now. We should be discussing, trying to fix things, inquiring about what is happening in the nation. There’s nothing like sitting on the fence,” he said.

Kunle shared that the rising cost of fuel and diesel is mentally taxing, affecting businesses and livelihoods, including his own staff, who struggle to commute to work due to higher transport costs.

He also criticized the nation’s dependence on a single refinery, pointing out that other refineries are non-functional and that government support has been inadequate.

“I live on the island, we’ve been running generators back to back. Petrol is  1,300 now. My staff are smiling but letting me know it’s hard to even come to work.

All the things I’m working for… for what? It’s messing with my brain and my spirit is very angry,” he added.

The actor concluded by questioning his colleagues in the industry who are part of what they call, “Relax, Tinubu is fixing Nigeria,” asking whether they are truly standing for the right reasons.
