The Niger State Police Command has arrested three suspected livestock thieves and recovered one stolen goat.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
According to the PPRO, the suspects belong to a syndicate that specialised in stealing domestic animals such as goats, rams and sheep around FCT, Nasarawa and Niger State.
“On 16th March, 2026 at about 11.45am, based on a tip-off, Police operatives attached to Maje Div intercepted a red Volkswagen golf vehicle with reg. no. BWR 350 CL, driven by one Mohammed Ali 37yrs of Maraba market and two others; Shuaibu Ibrahim 37yrs of Ado Maraba and Ilyasu Rabiu of Nasarawa,” the statement read.
“The suspects were intercepted at Tungan-Shanu area of Maje with a suspected stolen goat, and during interrogation, they confessed to having stolen the goat from the area.
“It was also revealed during their confession that the syndicate specialised in stealing domestic animals such as goats, rams and sheep around FCT, Nasarawa and Niger State.
“The suspects were charged to court for prosecution.”
