NSCDC arrests scrap dealer with vandalized electric cables in Jigawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, has arrested a suspected scrap dealer in connection with the unlawful possession of vandalized electrical cable. 

 

The public Relations Officer of the command, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, March 9, 2026.

 

“The suspect, Muhd Adamu, 50, from Maruwa town in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area of Jigawa State, was arrested on Wednesday, 4th March at about 1500hrs,” the statement read.

 

“Upon arrest, operatives recovered an aluminium cable measuring about 267 metres, valued at approximately N573,300. 

 

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the cable was allegedly brought to the suspect’s house for safe keeping by two accomplices identified as Sani and Auwalu, both from Ruba village in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area, who are currently at large.

 

“The suspect is presently in custody while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplices and bring them to justice.”

 

Reacting to the development, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Jigawa State Command, warned individuals involved in vandalism of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure to desist from such illegal activities or face the full weight of the law.

 

The Commandant further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities around public infrastructure to security agencies across Jigawa State.

 

The Command reassures the public of its continued commitment to safeguarding Critical National Assets and Infrastructure and maintaining the safety and security of lives and property in the state.
