A secondary school student identified as Oryiman Afeese, has d!ed after falling from a mango tree in Naka, Gwer-West Local Government Area of Benue State.
A Facebook user, Emmanuel Atema said the incident happened on Sunday, March 1, 2026 when the SS1 student climbed a tree in the community to pluck mangoes.
“Yesterday, d3ath cast a dark shadow over Splendid Secondary School, Naka, and in the most painful way, snatched away one of its students, Master Oryiman Afeese” he wrote.
“According to the principal of the college, Sir Barnabas Hanmeza, the tragedy occurred when the boy fell from a mango tree, and in that heartbreaking moment, his life slipped away.
“A child full of dreams. A student with a future, gone too soon! No words can truly capture the grief that now fills the hearts of his classmates, especially the students of SSS 1, who only yesterday, shared laughter, lessons, and youthful hopes with him.
“We pray that God, in His infinite mercy, comfort Splendid Secondary School, Naka, the management, teachers, students, and most especially his family. May He grant them the strength to bear this irreparable loss. Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.”
