West Ham Head coach, Nuno Esprito Santo has instructed winger Adama Traor to avoid heavy weightlifting sessions at West Hams Rush Green training facility due to the players naturally muscular physique. The 30-year-old Spanish winger joined West Ham United F.C. on a permanent transfer from Fulham in January. Traor had previously worked under Nuno during their time together at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Nuno described Traors physical structure as extraordinary, stressing that the focus should be on maintaining his natural speed and strength rather than increasing muscle mass. He explained that Traors build is largely genetic, adding that the player should limit heavy gym work and focus more on recovery and injury-prevention exercises. The coach also contrasted Traors training approach with younger players who need muscle development, citing academy players who spend long hours building physical strength. He emphasised that training programmes at the club are customised based on individual physical needs. Since his arrival at West Ham, Traor has mostly been used as a substitute, making appearances against clubs including Chelsea, Burnley, Manchester United and Liverpool. He recorded 15 appearances for Fulham earlier in the season before completing his transfer. West Hams recent January transfer business also included players such as Pablo Felipe, Taty Castellanos, Axel Disasi and Keiber Lamadrid, with some of the new signings already contributing positively while others are still recovering from injuries.
