A man identified as Sunny Uma Okwara, was flo0ged by the Umuada, for allegedly assaulting his aged parents in Abia State. 

 

Umuada (daughters of the land)  is powerful, traditional  institution in Igbo society,composed of all the daughters (married or unmarried) of a specific kindred or lineage.

 

 

The incident happened in Amaekpu autonomous community in Ohafia Local Government Area of the state.

 

 

A video trending on social media shows the women giving the man 30 strokes of cane after he was found guilty of the accusation levelled against him. 

 

 

It was gathered that Okwara was also accused of b3ating his wife and fined N20,000 by the women. 

 

 

According to reports, the suspect allegedly b3at his parents over minor disagreements, prompting the aged couple to petition the Umuada. 

 

 

 

The Umuada stated that the N20,000 fine imposed on Okwara would be used to perform traditional cleansing rites in the village, which they said had been desecrated by his actions.
