“Grammys dey use Nigerians promote their award” — VDM says as Davido, Burna Boy, Wizkid, others lose

Popular social media critic, VeryDarkMan (VDM, has reacted to Nigerian artistes losing out at the 68th Grammy Awards held in the United States on Sunday night.

All Nigerian nominees, including Davido, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Omah Lay and Wizkid, failed to win in their respective categories, ending the night without a trophy.

VDM reacts to Grammy outcome

Reacting online, VDM described the result as painful but predictable, saying Nigerian artistes often help promote the awards without getting rewarded.

“CONFIRMED 🤦‍♂️💔 All Nigerian artistes nominated at the 68th Grammy Awards have lost in all categories,” he wrote in a viral post.

He added, “None of them is flying back to Lagos with a trophy. But still, congratulations guys. You did your best.”

The outspoken commentator then made a controversial claim, alleging that the Grammy Awards often benefit from Nigerian attention and global influence.

“Jokes aside, Grammys dey use Nigerians promote their award. They always do this,” he stated.

VDM’s reaction quickly sparked debate online, with fans expressing mixed feelings about the credibility and fairness of the Grammy Awards.

Some social media users agreed with his view, while others defended the awards, urging Nigerians to celebrate global nominations as progress.

Despite the disappointment, many fans praised the nominated artistes for representing Nigeria on the world stage and maintaining global relevance.
