Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of young forward Elisha Sowunmi from West Ham United in an undisclosed deal.
The move brings an end to Sowunmi’s ten-year spell with the Hammers, where he progressed through the club’s youth ranks. Versatile in attack, the youngster is capable of playing out wide or in the number 10 role.
Sowunmi was West Ham’s Under-18s top scorer last season, netting hat-tricks against Reading and Aston Villa. He also played a key role in helping the team lift the Under-18 Premier League Cup.
The transfer comes just six months after he signed his first professional contract with West Ham.
Reacting to the move, Sowunmi expressed his delight at joining Spurs.
“I’m really excited to be here. I know a lot about the club from playing against them over the years. It’s a great club with a lot of history, so I’m really, really excited to be here,” he said during his unveiling.
