DJ Fat Tony has sought to clarify claims surrounding an incident at the 2022 wedding of Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz, following allegations by the groom that his mother, Victoria Beckham, behaved inappropriately on the dance floor.

In a series of Instagram posts earlier this week, Brooklyn Beckham said his first dance with Peltz had been “hijacked” and claimed he felt “uncomfortable and humiliated” after what he described as inappropriate dancing by his mother in front of guests. The comments fuelled widespread speculation and online debate about what took place during the wedding reception.
Fat Tony, who performed at the Palm Beach, Miami ceremony alongside singer Marc Anthony, addressed the controversy during an appearance on This Morning. He rejected claims of explicit or provocative behaviour, saying: “There was no slut dropping, there was no PVC catsuits, no Spice Girl action. The word ‘inappropriate’, it was about the timing. This is what happened.”

According to the DJ, Marc Anthony invited Brooklyn onto the stage while performing, prompting expectations that the moment would lead into the couple’s first dance. Instead, Anthony asked “the most beautiful woman” to come to the stage and then called Victoria Beckham forward. Tony said that moment proved emotionally difficult for the newlyweds, particularly the bride.
“Suddenly Brooklyn is devastated, because he thought he was going to do his first dance with his wife,” Tony said, adding that Peltz left the room in tears while Brooklyn remained on stage. He described the ensuing dance between mother and son as “awkward for everyone in the room,” explaining that Anthony’s instruction for Brooklyn to place his hands on his mother’s hips was intended as a Latin dance gesture rather than something suggestive.
Tony said the Beckham family has always been enthusiastic about dancing, but acknowledged that the issue ultimately centred on how Brooklyn felt at the time. “What we deem as inappropriate, it’s not how Brooklyn feels. It’s about how Brooklyn feels,” he said.
The DJ later poked fun at the rumours on social media by sharing a meme referencing exaggerated dance moves, a post that drew mixed reactions online. His partner, Stavros Agapiou, initially claimed Brooklyn was “telling the truth” about the incident before later deleting the comment and posting support for Brooklyn speaking out.

Another wedding guest, quoted by British media, said Victoria Beckham’s behaviour was not sleazy but may have appeared ill-timed, suggesting the issue stemmed from attention being drawn away from the bride during a moment meant to focus on the couple.
The episode has deepened public scrutiny of reported tensions within the Beckham family, following Brooklyn’s broader claims that his wife had been disrespected and excluded from family events. Neither Victoria Beckham nor David Beckham has directly addressed the wedding incident, though David Beckham recently spoke about the impact of social media and allowing children to learn from mistakes while speaking at an event in Davos.
