Kim Kardashian got emotional on the latest episode of The Kardashians as she revealed that her ex-husband, Kanye West, accused her of staging her terrifying 2016 Paris robbery.
The 45-year-old reality star opened up about how deeply the accusation hurt her. “Even my ex-husband had said, ‘And you faked your robbery for a TV show,’” Kim said, her voice cracking. “Just to think that someone who’s so close to you wouldn’t believe you… that should know how much that affected your life… it just really bothered me. You don’t know who I am.”
Kim said hearing it in front of others felt like “a knife to my heart” but added that finally being able to testify and face the robbers in court gave her a sense of closure. “I’m happy it’s over,” she added tearfully.
At the time of the robbery, Kanye was not by her side, performing in New York. However, he reportedly cut his show short after learning of the incident due to a “family emergency.”
The Hulu reality episode revisited the shocking ordeal, with archival footage showing the robbers holding Kim at gunpoint and tying her up. Kim reflected on how the trauma left a lasting impact. “In 2016, my life changed forever,” she admitted.
Kim returned to Paris nine years later with her mother, Kris Jenner, and childhood friend Simone Harouche, who had been in the apartment during the robbery but was never discovered by the intruders. “I just want to get this over with. I want to go in, do what I do, tell my story, and that’s it,” Kim said.
The episode detailed how five people were accused of carrying out the heist, while five others were charged as accessories. Kim explained that delays in the trial were due to evidence gathering, the coronavirus pandemic, and even the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Flashbacks showed Kim at her apartment alone with Simone after her sisters had gone out during Paris Fashion Week. She initially mistook the intruders for her sisters returning but quickly realized something was wrong when she heard the men entering, disguised in police uniforms.
Kim described the terrifying moments, asking repeatedly, “Are we gonna die?” as the robbers tied her hands and feet with zip ties and covered her eyes with duct tape. She feared they intended to rape or kill her. The robbers discovered her $4 million engagement ring and other valuables, confirming the incident was a robbery.
While Kim was incapacitated, Simone tried contacting Kourtney, who, like Kim, didn’t know the local emergency number. Kourtney then rushed to the apartment with Kendall and contacted their mother, Kris, who presumably alerted authorities.
