A dad of two tragically d!ed during a gym session when a heavy barbell slipped from his grasp and hit him during a weightlifting session.
The tragic incident took place on Monday, December 1, at RW Academia, Ronald’s regular gym in Olinda, near the city of Recife in Brazil.
Police launched an investigation into the tragic incident but have already concluded it was an accident.
Ronald Montenegro, 55, was enjoying a workout doing weight training when the horror accident happened. He was able to free himself from the heavy weight but harrowing footage showed him get to his feet, before then collapsing to the ground in agony.


He was rushed to hospital, but despite the best efforts of medics he was not able to be saved.
Since his de@th tributes have been pouring in for the museum boss.
Ronald was president of the town’s Palacio dos Bonecos Gigantes museum, home to 15-foot tall paper mache and cloth puppets which are a traditional part of the town’s carnival every February, reports The Sun.
In a moving tribute, the museum said: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Montenegro, our president and an indispensable figure in the history and construction of the Palacio dos Bonecos.
“Today we have lost not only a leader, but a friend, a creator, a passionate defender of popular culture, and one of the people most responsible for keeping alive the tradition of giant puppets that enchant Olinda and the world.”
They added: “His dedication, vision, and love for carnival have marked generations and will live on in every detail of our work. Out of respect for his memory and the mourning of his entire family and team, we inform you that the activities of the Palacio dos Bonecos will be suspended, returning to normal on December 5.
“We appreciate everyone’s understanding and ask that you join us in prayer and tribute to this great man who left an eternal legacy to the culture and tradition of the Olinda carnival.”
The gym, RW Academia, posted a heartfelt tribute on their Instagram page: “It is with deep sadness and constraint that the RW Academia stands in solidarity with the death of our student Ronald José Salvador.
“The entire team provided immediate assistance, acting promptly on specialised aid. Despite all efforts, we received the news of his passing with immense sorrow.
“We extend to his family and friends our deepest condolences, wishing strength and comfort at this time of immeasurable pain. Ronald José Salvador will always be remembered with respect and affection by all who were part of his journey in our community.”We make ourselves fully available to provide all necessary support to his loved ones, helping with whatever we can during this very difficult time.”
