Burna Boy pledges to cover funeral costs for children killed in U.S mass shooting

Nigerian Grammy-award-winning singer Burna Boy has stepped in to support the families of four children tragically killed in a mass shooting at a birthday party in Stockton, California.

According to reports, the “Last Last” hitmaker felt a deep emotional connection to the devastating story after hearing it discussed on The Breakfast Club radio show.

Moved by the heartbreaking details, Burna Boy reached out to music executive Wack 100 and Hollywood Unlocked’s Jason Lee to offer immediate assistance to the grieving families.

In a statement, he said:

“When I heard about the children murdered in Stockton, my heart broke. No family should ever face this kind of pain alone. I wanted to do whatever I could to support these parents as they begin the long process of healing.”

The singer was particularly touched by the story of 14-year-old Amari Peterson, a student-athlete with a 3.8 GPA whose promising future was abruptly cut short.

Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee praised Burna Boy for his humanitarian effort, describing it as “an example of how people around the world want to help, even when they’ve never met the families impacted.”

The mass shooting occurred on Saturday, November 29, inside a crowded banquet hall where 100 to 150 people had gathered for a children’s birthday party.

Four young people lost their lives, and 11 others were wounded, confirmed victims include eight-year-old Maya Lupian and 21-year-old Susano Archuleta.

Authorities believe the attack may have been targeted, and a $25,000 reward has been announced for information leading to an arrest.

The humanitarian move comes at a turbulent time for Burna Boy, who is currently facing a wave of controversy following his canceled Colorado concert, with several shows been canceled after low ticket sales.
