Nigerian music superstar, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’Banj, has finally spoken out about the legendary breakup of Mo’Hits Records, revealing that the decision to part ways was entirely Don Jazzy’s idea.
In a candid interview, the Kokomaster crooner explained that the split was never about conflict but about vision and timing.

In his words, he said:
“It didn’t come from me, the idea to go our separate ways didn’t come from me, it came from Don Jazzy 100%. That’s why we’re still cool, and that’s why he gave me 100 percent of my catalog, even 10 other songs I haven’t released. It’s not about the record label for me, it’s about the movement and future.”
D’Banj added that Don Jazzy ensured his career continued smoothly by giving him full ownership of his catalog, including his 10 unreleased tracks.
Reflecting on their final release, Oliver Twist, he described it as a huge success before they departed, viewing the break up moment as a cement for global recognition.
“For me personally, even though it was a journey and he had his opinions, I knew that we needed to cement that global movement, and I’m glad that, in the end, God still made it happen for us.”
Fans and industry watchers have praised the maturity and mutual respect between D’Banj and Don Jazzy. Social media has been buzzing with nostalgia for Mo’Hits-era hits, reminding everyone of the powerhouse label’s legacy.
Co-founded by D’Banj and Don Jazzy, Mo’Hits Records played a pivotal role in shaping Nigerian music, producing chart-topping hits and launching the careers of stars like Wande Coal and Dr SID.
