A middle-aged man known for creating online videos insulting the Asantehene of Ghana, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has been captured in a viral video being assaulted.
In the footage, the suspect is seen kneeling with his hands tied behind his back, surrounded by a group of visibly angry men who accused him of disrespecting the revered Ashanti monarch. The men are seen slapping and confronting him, demanding that he apologise for his repeated online insults.
Reports indicate that the man had gained notoriety on social media for making provocative and offensive remarks about the Asantehene, drawing widespread condemnation from traditionalists and supporters of the royal household.
Despite his usual online bravado, the suspect appeared terrified and speechless in the video as he awaited transfer to the authorities. Eyewitnesses said he was later handed over to the Manhyia Police Station for further investigation.
The incident has sparked mixed reactions online. While some Ghanaians praised the men for defending traditional authority and demanding respect for the Asantehene, others criticised their actions, warning against mob justice and insisting that only the law should address such offences.
