Police in Ogun have arrested two herders for allegedly causing extensive damage to a government-owned tree plantation valued at N95 million in the Olokemeji Range, Odeda Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects, identified as Haruna Oseni, 23, and another herder simply identified as ZZ, 30, both from Oyo State, were caught grazing their cattle within the plantation belonging to the Ogun State Ministry of Forestry at about 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

According to a report lodged by Dr. Bashiru Adeniyi, a senior staff of the ministry, the herders’ cattle destroyed a large portion of the plantation, including young trees and seedlings.

Upon receiving the complaint, detectives from the Odeda Division promptly moved to the scene, arrested the suspects, and took photographs of the damaged area.

The police confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody undergoing interrogation while investigation continues.
