A Nigerian lady has sparked conversation online after calling out married women who refuse to make their husbands their next of kin.
In a video making the rounds, she said that out of a hundred men, about ninety-eight usually list their wives as next of kin — but many women, when buying land, choose their siblings instead.
She said, “I thought it was normal until I began to notice this trend. You’re married, your husband uses you as next of kin, but when it’s your turn, you write your younger brother’s name. Why?”
The lady questioned why some women go into marriage already preparing for bad things to happen. She stressed that marriage is supposed to be a partnership, not a silent competition.
What shocked her the most, however, were cases where some women secretly inflate the price of land their husbands are buying in both their names — sometimes adding as much as ₦2 million — just to pocket the difference.
She said, “Some of you will come to the company to say your husband wants to buy land. If the land is ₦6 million, you’ll tell him it’s ₦8 million. Why? It’s not like the man is even wicked to you.”
The woman went on to advise that even if a person has a difficult partner, it shouldn’t be an excuse to do wrong.
