Jimmy Fallon dragged for saying his Tonight Show plan is to ?hit both sides equally? in politics

Jimmy Fallon is catching heat online after revealing his strategy for handling America’s tense political climate on The Tonight Show.

The 51-year-old host appeared on CNBC’s Squawk on the Street and said he’s not looking to turn his show into a political battlefield like some of his late-night rivals. Instead, Fallon explained that his style has always been to “hit both sides equally” and keep things light, Daily Mail reported.

This comes after a turbulent few months in late-night TV. Stephen Colbert was fired from CBS in July, with many blaming his political takes for the axe. Earlier this month, Jimmy Kimmel was suspended over a controversial remark about conservatives reacting to activist Charlie Kirk’s tragic death. Even Donald Trump has chimed in, tweeting that Fallon could be “next to go” after Kimmel.

But Fallon insists he won’t change his style. “Our monologues are the same as when Johnny Carson was hosting,” he said. “I just keep my head down and make sure the jokes are funny.”

Despite his calm approach, many viewers online slammed him for “playing it safe” instead of taking a stand, sparking fresh debate on whether comedy in 2025 can ever stay neutral.
