Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have successfully rescued two kidnapped officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.

The officers identified as David Iorwuese James and Orasuur Oliver were abducted near the Benue-Taraba border a few weeks ago.

The daring operation, carried out on Friday, September 26, 2025, followed credible intelligence from Appropriate Superior Authority regarding the abduction of the officers.

According to a statement by Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, Acting Media Information Officer of OPWS, troops swiftly launched a coordinated search and rescue mission in Tse Tembe and Adamawa Village within the Azendeshi Council Ward of Ukum LGA.

The operation, executed with precision and speed, forced the kidnappers to flee, enabling troops to recover the victims safely at Adamawa Village. The rescued officers are currently in the custody of OPWS troops, where they are receiving preliminary medical attention and undergoing debriefing.

Commending the troops, the Force Commander of OPWS, Major General Moses Gara, praised their professionalism and commitment to duty.

He stressed that the success of the mission underscores OPWS’s determination to respond swiftly to distress calls, safeguard citizens, and continue protecting farmers to enhance food security across Benue and adjoining states.

General Gara further urged communities to provide timely and credible intelligence to security agencies, noting that collaboration between security forces and local residents is crucial in defeating criminal elements.
