Gary Busey has been sentenced to two years of probation after pleading guilty to inappropriately touching a woman in 2022.
The “Buddy Holly Story” actor, 81, received the sentence on Thursday, according to court documents obtained by Page Six. In addition to probation, Busey must submit a DNA sample and is barred from contacting two of the victims.
“He is happy to move on from this circumstance in New Jersey, which has led to extremely negative press for over three years, to no fault of his own,” Busey’s attorney, Blair Zwillman, told Page Six Sunday. “He’s retired, he treasures his life as an actor and wants to move forward.”
In July, Busey pleaded guilty to one count of fourth-degree criminal s3xual contact for inappropriately touching a woman at a New Jersey horror film convention in August 2022. During a virtual court appearance, he admitted, “It was not an accidental touching.”
The guilty plea led prosecutors to dismiss the remaining charges against him, which included three additional counts of fourth-degree criminal s3xual contact and one count of attempted fourth-degree criminal s3xual contact. Several women had accused Busey of inappropriately touching them during a photo opportunity at the annual Monster-Mania Con at the Doubletree Hotel in Camden, New Jersey.
Two women alleged that Busey gr0ped their buttocks and attempted to unhook one of their bras. The “Predator 2” actor initially denied the allegations, telling TMZ, “nothing happened” at the convention and that the encounter with the women “took less than 10 seconds.” Busey also claimed the women “made up a story” about the s3xual assaults.
