Discord has clarified that it was not used by Tyler Robinson to plan or conceal the murder of Charlie Kirk.
A spokesperson for the platform told TMZ that while investigators identified a Discord account linked to Robinson, there was no evidence he used it to organize the attack or promote violence. “The messages referenced in recent reporting about planning details do not appear to be Discord messages. These were communications between the suspect’s roommate and a friend after the shooting, where the roommate was recounting the contents of a note the suspect had left elsewhere,” the spokesperson said.
Authorities indicated that Robinson’s roommate had shared messages with investigators, including mentions of retrieving a rifle and leaving it hidden, but Discord emphasized these were written notes outside the platform, not messages sent on Discord itself.
The company confirmed it has removed Robinson’s account. Utah authorities have stated that Robinson is believed to have acted alone, though the investigation remains ongoing.
