
The Duchess of Kent, Katharine, has passed away at 92, surrounded by her family at Kensington Palace.
Her death was announced in a statement released on the Royal Family’s Instagram account.
According to the statement, The Duchess of Kent passed away peacefully in her sleep.
“Her Royal Highness passed away peacefully last night at Kensington Palace, surrounded by her family’, The post stated.
Reflecting on her legacy, the post emphasized, “The Duchess’s life-long devotion to all the organizations with which she was associated, her passion for music, and her empathy for young people”.
During her life time, the Duchess of Kent was a skilled musician and taught music at a primary school in Hull for over a decade.
She founded the charity Future Talent in 2004 to support music education for children from low-income backgrounds.
In 1994, she became the first member of the royal family to convert to Roman Catholicism in over 300 years.
