A fisherman caught a stingray in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. 

 

 

The photos were posted by residents on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. 

 

 

Stingrays are a group of sea rays, a type of cartilaginous fish related to sharks. 

 

 

The fish noted for the long, sharp spines on their tails, are commonly found in the shallow coastal waters of temperate seas. 

 

 

Australian zookeeper and wildlife conservationist, Steve Irwin was killed by a stingray while filming in the Great Barrier Reef in September 2006.
