California Governor Gavin Newsom sparked an online firestorm on X (formerly Twitter) after posting an A.I.-generated image showing himself being blessed by celebrities associated with President Donald Trump.
The image, shared on X, featured Kid Rock, Tucker Carlson, and the late Hulk Hogan with angel wings and halos, accompanied by the caption “so nice.”
The post drew immediate criticism from conservatives, with some calling it “disrespectful and blasphemous.” Rather than removing it, Newsom followed up with another A.I.-generated image, this time referencing a picture Trump had shared of himself depicted as the Pope, captioned with a sarcastic “oops, our bad, sorry. meant to post this.”
The move is the latest episode in the ongoing digital feud between Newsom and Trump, highlighting how both politicians are increasingly using A.I. imagery on social media.
