A young Nigerian man has taken to social media to share his frustration one year after graduating from Babcock University.
According to him, he spent over N10 million studying a course that has not gotten him a job worth even ₦100,000 monthly.
In a video post he made, he revealed that despite the popular “just get a degree” advice, many courses in Nigeria have little to no job prospects. He noted that only fields like accounting, banking and finance, medicine, law, and tech still hold hope, while courses like political science, public administration, chemistry, and history rarely appear in job openings.
He said he paid about ₦2.7 million per session for four years, with additional costs for summer classes, yet his certificate is “somewhere in his mother’s house” and hasn’t fetched him anything.
The man explained that if not for advice from a church member to pursue another degree in a better course, he might have ended up in trouble, joking that people should not be surprised if they one day see his face on EFCC’s page.
