A Nigerian user on X has stirred serious conversation after painting a vivid picture of what it feels like to be a talented artist in the country.
In his words, Nigeria is that place where someone will spend 400 hours creating a masterpiece, only to realize there’s no market for it because people have to first fill their stomachs before thinking of buying art.
He explained how artists often end up begging for retweets on Twitter. If that doesn’t work, they carry their hustle to concerts, lifting their paintings up in the hope that celebrities will notice them mid-performance.
And when that fails, it’s back to the struggle — looking for any connection.
“You will be running around and begging despite talent and hard work. This is not normal,” he wrote.
He tackled the common saying that “talent is not enough,” calling it a big lie Nigerians use to excuse the harsh economy.
“Talent is enough. Na just your economy not good,” he added.
He ended by saying that one day, people will finally realize this truth. But until then, everyone will keep “cruising” through the hustle.
