IVD was arrested and detained by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions while at the airport to board a plane to to Qatar with Blessing. According to reports, IVD’s arrest was in connection with his ongoing court trial over the de@th of his late wife, Bimbo Ogbonna. Unconfirmed reports claimed the court banned him from travelling out of Nigeria until the conclusion of the case.
His late wife, Bimbo, died in controversial circumstances in their Lagos home in October 2022. It is alleged that she died due to injuries sustained from a fire incident resulting from domestic violence in their Lagos residence.
The Lagos State Government charged IVD with one count of involuntary manslaughter in suit No LD/21055C/23.
