The Super Falcons of Nigeria have defeated the host nation, Morocco, to win the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a 3 – 2 scoreline.
Chebbak opened the scoring for Morocco with a stunning effort from the edge of the box in the 12th minute.
In the 24th minute, Sanaâ Mssoudy added a second goal for Morocco after beating Michelle Alozie in the box before producing a low finish pass to Chiamaka Nnadozie to make it 2-0.
The Super Falcons came out of the second half with an improved performance to change the scoreline.
Esther Okoronkwo broke the deadlock for Nigeria in the second half with a fine penalty to reduce the deficit for the Super Falcons in the 64th minute.
In the 71st minute, Folashade Ijamilusi made it 2-2 with a close-range finish.
Substitute Jennifer Echegini scored the winning goal for Nigeria in the 88th minute with a clinical finish to seal a 3-2 win, and secure the 10th continental title for Nigeria.
