Nigeria’s Super Falcons kicked off their bid for a record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in style, with a commanding 3-0 victory over Tunisia in their Group B opener on Sunday, July 6.
Goals from captain Asisat Oshoala, Rinsola Babajide, and substitute Chiwendu Ihezuo sealed the win, marking Nigeria’s first-ever victory over Tunisia at the WAFCON. This was only the second meeting between the two nations at the tournament, after their group stage clash in 2008 ended in a goalless draw.

With this result, the Super Falcons have sent a strong message to their continental rivals, underlining their status as favourites to lift the trophy once again. They will aim to build on this impressive start as the tournament progresses.
