Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has fired back at former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, over remarks that Wike does not show him respect. Amaechi, speaking earlier, had questioned why his successor refused to acknowledge him with the respect he believes he deserves. He also challenged Wike to walk with him from Abuja to Port Harcourt to prove who among them is more popular. Responding during an appearance on Channels Television on Friday, Wike dismissed Amaechis comments, insisting that respect is earned through personal qualities, not age or political seniority. You should be respected by your integrity and honour, not because youre 200 years old, Wike said. It is unfair for him to say he is my senior and expect that alone to command respect. The clash is the latest in a long-running rivalry between the two politicians, who once belonged to the same political camp in Rivers State before falling out.
