Popular Nollywood actor Akin Olaiya‘s in-laws have addressed viral allegations following a private traditional ceremony, showing his new wife’s notable facial expression.
The Yoruba movie star, known for his roles in indigenous films, quietly remarried in an intimate celebration attended by close family and friends.
While many fans congratulated the actor, a viral clip from the event sparked speculation after it showed Akin Olaiya energetically dancing beside his new wife, who stood still with a seemingly displeased expression.
The video quickly fueled rumours about the bride’s willingness to marry the actor, with some social media users questioning whether the union was by consent or arrangement.
In response, a family member of the bride released a public statement debunking claims that the marriage was forced. The relative emphasised that the couple were genuinely in love and that the bride price had been fully paid, in line with cultural traditions.
“To everyone asking if our daughter was forced to marry Akin Olaiya, that is not true. Her bride price was properly paid in full by her husband. We didn’t give her out cheaply. They love each other so much. We Hausas don’t give our daughters out because of money or friendship. This union is pure love,” the family member said in a video.
Additional clips later emerged showing the couple smiling and engaging warmly with guests, appearing to counter the initial perception created by the first video.
