Borno: Bodies of 14 mourners recovered after Boko Haram attack on Chibok village

Bodies of 14 mourners have been recovered after suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked Kwaple village in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State.

LIB reported that the Chibok attack occurred on Monday, April 28, barely seven hours after scores of motorists and passengers were killed, while others sustained injuries, along the Gamboru Ngala -Kala Balge road when the vehicles they were travelling in rammed into an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by terrorists.

The terrorists also set ablaze a church and over 10 residential houses.

Confirming the Chibok community attack, the chairman of the council, Hon. Modu Mustapha, said the incident took place at about 6 pm when the terrorists descended on some mourners who were gathered for a final day prayer for one of their loved ones who d!ed last week.

He added that many of the victims who sustained injuries in the attack were evacuated to Mubi General Hospital in nearby Adamawa State for treatment, stressing that the number of casualties may be higher as the community embarked on a search and rescue before a mass burial of dead victims.

Responding to the renewed Boko Haram attacks, especially in Southern Borno Senatorial District, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume described the situation as pathetic and beyond human imagination

He added that he received a distress call that over 10 members of vigilantes were k!lled in a community between Hawul local government area of Borno State and Garkida town in Adamawa State.

“My people are into severe casualties with no confrontation. In the last month, over a hundred of them were k!lled in several coordinated attacks in Sabon Gari, Izge, Kirawa, Pulka, Damboa, Chibok, Askira Uba and too numerous to mention,” Ndume lamented.
