Newsypeople- One of the responsibilities that the new Controller of Ogun I Area Command, Nigeria Customs Service, Idiroko, James Ojo, identifies, is to secure the role of traditional rulers and other security agencies in the fight against smuggling, as well as in the enhancement of border security.
During his tour to the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, and the rest of the traditional rulers, as well as the security facilities in the state, including the police, Nigerian Army, Correctional Centre, Defense Intelligence Agency, and the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ojo commended them for their support in chasing criminals who cause the country’s economy downsizing.
He noted the significance of using the influence and knowledge of traditional institutions to safeguard the border and prevent smuggling of goods. He mentioned the need for security agencies to continue and to have a solid partnership to deal with smuggling and other transnational crimes regularly.
The Nigeria Customs Service was praised by Oba Gbadebo as their dedication was also confirmed to support the customary rulers to maintain security, peace, and order.
The staff of security agencies also added that they have resolved in their earlier meeting with the NCS to be a game-changer in the fight against smuggling and border security with the Republic of Benin.
The visit in question fairly corresponds with the C.G of the Customs’ builder theme that centers on consolidation, cooperation, and invention.
Ojo stressed that the respect for the Ogun I Area Command to these principles is what will keep them alive and said that these meetings are so important for making the healthy and wealthy environment of Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
