Sydney woman is fighting for life after ‘being bashed with a vacuum cleaner by a teenager’

A 56-year-old woman is in a critical condition after she was allegedly bashed with a vacuum cleaner tube and a knife by a teenager.

Emergency services were called to a unit block in Abbotsford, in Sydney’s inner-west, at 10am on Saturday.

Police found a 56-year-old woman who had allegedly been attacked with a vacuum cleaner tube and a kitchen knife.

A 76-year-old man was in the apartment at the time, and had also been injured in the alleged attack. 

The pair were taken Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treated.

A 42-year-old neighbour of the pair who heard the alleged assault was also injured when checking in on the man and woman.

A 19-year-old was arrested and taken to Burwood Police Station, where he was charged with wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder.

He was also charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.

Police will allege they are all known to each other.

The 19-year-old was refused bail in order to appear at Parramatta Bail Court.
