Megan shared before and after images to the group to show how well the brush worked at cleaning the white rug and making it fluffy again.

The $3 brush worked well on the faux fur rug because the product is made to gently groom pet hair.

To clean the rug she simply brushed it repeatedly until the faux fur was detangled.

The online post swiftly received more than 2,300 likes and 185 comments from others who were just as impressed with the results.

‘Omg you are the best! How crazy! I’m on it now,’ one person said.

‘I’ve done this with a regular hairbrush too! Works the same on plush toys also,’ another said.

This isn’t the first time a customer has used a budget product to clean surfaces around the house.

‘I thought I’d give it a go on my carpets AFTER vacuuming,’ one woman explained before adding: ‘Shocked to see how much dog hair I could get up with this little beauty.

‘I feel rubbish thinking my carpets were clean with the vacuum.’

The cleaning tool works in a similar manner to a normal broom except instead of a normal bristle brush, it sports ‘thorns’ made from rubber.

When its bristles are worked into carpets, deeply embedded matter, such as hair, come to the surface.

‘This Kmart rubber broom has been great, it’s bloody hard work and makes me sweat but the result is great,’ she wrote.

‘We have a black rabbit who is absolutely gorgeous but loses a lot of hair. Bonus the rug feels better after a good sweep too.’
